Breakdown of Teams
Teams will play in the Essex County CYO Youth Basketball League which is part of the Archdiocese of Newark CYO Program. The basketball season is from October to March.
There are separate teams for Boys and Girls in each division.
Shamrocks: Grade 1 & 2: Saturday morning co-ed clinic. This is an instructional program with the emphasis on having fun while introducing the players to the game using Skills & Drills, adjustable baskets, and modified equipment.
Pee Wee: Grades 3 & 4: Teams will practice 1 day per week and play a 12 game travel schedule. This is a developmental program with the emphasis on having fun while teaching the players the fundamentals of the game.
Junior Varsity: Grades 5 & 6: Teams will practice 1-2 days per week at night and play a 12 game competitive travel schedule. Playoffs and Tournament games will also be added to the schedule.
Varsity: Grades 7 & 8: Teams will practice 1-2 days per week at night and play a 12 game competitive travel schedule. Playoffs and Tournament games will also be added to the schedule.
High School: Grades 9 thru 12: Boys team only. Teams will practice once a week at night and play a 10 game competitive travel schedule on weekends. Playoffs and Tournament games will also be added to the schedule. These teams will be made up of student-athletes who are not playing on their high School Freshman, JV or Varsity basketball team.
